Tremont HS Girls BB Team Involved in Accident

Reported by: WMBD/WYZZ-TV

CARLOCK –   A bus carrying members of the Tremont HS girl’s basketball team was involved in an accident on Interstate 74, just west of Bloomington-Normal Saturday morning.  WMBD 31 News spoke with Tremont Superintendent Don Beard by telephone.  He tells us that all of the girls have been taken to OSF St. Joseph in Bloomington where they are being treated.  He adds, thankfully, there appears to be no serious injuries to any of the girls, the coaches, or the bus driver.  The Tremont team was en route to play in the McLean County basketball tournament in Downs.  Authorities tell WMBD a  west bound truck carrying four people lost control at the Mitsubishi exit, clipping a semi-tractor trailer.  That sent the truck across the median and into the east bound lane of I-74, where it crashed into the bus.  State Police tell WMBD that two people from the truck died at the scene, the other two were taken to BroMenn.  The accident remains under investigation.  Stay tuned to WMBD 31 News and for the latest on this story.
